Distilled from the fresh, flowering aerial parts, recently gathered from the Mentha arvensis plant. It is used extensively in the flavouring of confectionary products e.g. chewing gum, mints and chocolate and in all kinds of toothpastes and mouth washes.

DESCRIPTION                     Yellowish clear, odour characteristics, pleasant taste, pungent, followed by a cooling sensation.

SOLUBILITY                         1 : 4 to 6 Volumes of 70% Alcohols.

WEIGHT/ ml                         0.892 - 0.910 gm

OPTICAL ROTATION             - 18 Degree C to 33 Degree C

OILS & FATS                       Negative

ASSAY BY GLC                   L - Menthol contents 38 to 40% plus.

Total Menthol contents          50 plus

Total Terpenes                      5 to 8%

Total Ketones                       30 to 35%
